So What ?

 

- Improvement in CST Testing techniques and scores

- We have done well and we know it and we know we can improve

- 10th grade scores went up

- the use of My Data to understand students and using it to drive instruction

- Comparing grades to CST Scores department-wide

 

 

Recommendations priority areas of improvement

- Creating review units for each subject area based on state standards

- Getting a data person

- ID students that are not taking the course for the test they are going to take

- People to run the reviews for the students not in the class for the test they are taking

- We need an intervention specialist who follows strict department guidelines regardless of their academic background with a smile.

- More collaboration between SS and RSP teachers

- Understand the subject they are in and how it relates to the other subjects

- Encourage students to go to tutoring even with other teachers other than their own.

- CST Review on Saturdays (Willing : Goodman, Evans, Jackson

- Force students to come to Saturday pre-CST tutoring

 

 

 

 

 

 

Commendations

-       Our scores went up a great deal  in World and U.S.

-       Better communication in department via email

-       More motivational activities (awards banquet, in class awards, teacher awards, scholarships offered by department as incentive)

-       Development of SS Electives (Law and Youth, Psychology, Sociology, Chicano History Class, Geography

-       Students complete service learning at a rate of 94%

-       Passing rate for SS classes improves as students continue

-       Tutoring after school

-       Creation of department website

-       Teachers planning during the summer

-       Teacher passing NBC
