10 Events that Helped Shape Our World: A project on the Civil Rights Movement

 

·Your task is to create a “children’s book” that will show the most important 10 events

   that occurred during the Civil Rights Movement.

·This book will be colorful, illustrated, and nicely done. Your book will include

   important dates and accurate information on the Civil Rights Movement.

 

Follow the directions below to help you create your book:

1.    Choose 10 events from the Civil Rights Movement that you think are the most important, and have had the greatest effect on the United States.

2.    Give each event a title.

3.    Find the date for each event, and put your events in chronological order.

4.    Research each event, and write a short summary of the event.  Be sure to include the following: (remember, this is a book for children)

a.    When?

b.    Where?

c.    Who?

d.    What? / How?

e.    Why is it important?

5.    Include a picture for each event!  (illustrated by hand, or from the internet)

6.    Each event should be one page in your book (typed)

7.    Choose one person from the Civil Rights Movement that your think was important, and write a “thank you” letter to that person. (one page)

8.    Create a cover for your book

9.    Create a title page for your book (title, your name, date, class)

10.Put your book together nicely, with all events in order and your letter at the end, and be ready to present to the class.
