The Vietnam War divided America.
Each night as families watched the war on the nightly news, Americans began to split into two separated schools of
thinking, Pro-War and Anti-War. This separation eventually pitted brother against brother, sister against
sister, and friend against friend. Task:
You will look at the Vietnam War from
both sides, Pro-War and Anti-War. You will do this by choosing 4 tasks from the list below, or 2 from each
side. (25
points each, total of 100 points possible) Extra Credit:
For extra credit you
can create a collage, using pictures from the Vietnam War. Your collage will need to be either Pro-War
or Anti-War. You must title your collage, make sure all of your pictures cover the paper entirely (18”
x 24’), and must be nicely done! Be creative! Worth up to 20 points! ANTI-WAR | PRO-WAR | 1. Design a poster. Your artwork
should depict 3 reasons why you are against the war in Vietnam | - Produce
a welcome home poster. Your poster should show 3 reasons why you are in favor of the Vietnam War.
| - Write
a poem, at least 20 lines, that shows your feelings against the war in Vietnam.
| - Write a thank-you letter to a soldier in Vietnam telling them
why you support the war. Your letter should include at least 3 factual reasons for your support.
The body of the letter should be at least 1 page typed, double spaced.

- Write lyrics to a song that is
against the war. Your song should convey your feelings as well as give facts for those feelings.
Your song should have 4 verses and a chorus. Must be typed.
| - Write a pro-war speech. Your speech should be enthusiastic
and persuasive. Must include 3 factual reasons telling why you support the war in Vietnam.
Should be one page typed, double spaced.
| - Write a protest speech. You must
use persuasive language and at least 3 facts to convince others that the war is wrong. Your speech
must beat least one page typed, double spaced.
| - Write a poem, at least 20 line, which shows your support for the war.
| - Write a letter to the
President of the United States, explaining your opinion on the war, and asking him to bring the troops home.
Be sure to use facts to back up your opinions. Be persuasive and explain your anti-war
perspective. Your letter should be at least 1 page typed, double spaced.
| - Pretend you are a soldier in Vietnam, write a letter home
to your family, telling them of at least 3 reasons you have for supporting the war. Letter should
be 1 page typed, double spaced.
