A VIETNAM WAR MEMOIR-

Your task is to assume the identity of a person who lived during the Vietnam War.  Put yourself in that person’s “shoes” and describe what went on during this time period from their point of view.

You will assume the identity of one of the following people:

a.     soldier (drafted or enlisted)

b.     wife of a soldier (drafted or enlisted)

c.     doctor

d.     nurse

e.     protestor

f.      draft dodger

Your task is to complete the following activities:

1.     A timeline – 10 events

a.     Choose 10 events that you feel were the most important to the Vietnam War

b.     Include 3 illustrations/pictures

c.     Choose 5 events to describe in more detail (3-4 sentence summary of the event)

d.     Title your timeline

e.     Make sure your events are in chronological order!

2.     A diary – 5 entries

a.     Each entry must have a date, and describe an event that occurred during the Vietnam War.  (choose events from your timeline)

b.     Entries should be typed or nicely written by hand.

c.     Each entry needs to have a picture or an illustration

d.     Your diary needs a cover – be creative!

3.     Theme song

a.     Choose a “theme” song that would fit your new identity.

b.     Type/print the lyrics to the song

c.     Include a paragraph explaining why you choose that song

d.     Include the lyrics as the last page in your diary

Put the all 3 pieces of the project together and turn in as your diary. 

Be sure to use accurate information, spelling, grammar and punctuation.
