“LADY PILOTS TENNIS TEAM MAKES HISTORY WITH WIN OVER NARBONNE!”

Re-Cap of 9/28/06 Match vs. Narbonne

EXTRA! EXTRA! The Lady Pilots Tennis Team made history yesterday, defeating Narbonne on Thursday for the first time in at least 10 years, perhaps much longer.  The three doubles tandems of Cinthya Monroy & Veronica Trujillo (#1 Doubles), Adriana Garcia & Graziel Nafarette (#2 Doubles), as well as Norma Santamaria & Melissa Hernandez (#3 Doubles) swept their matches by a combined 24 games to 13.

However, it was the team’s #1 singles player, Margaret Young, that would put the final nail in the coffin & give the Lady Pilots the remarkable win.  As the very last match on court, & playing on the road, the Pilots were tied with the Gauchos, 3 matches a piece.   Down 5 games to 4, Margaret rallied to win 4 of the next 5 games, much to the delight of a thunderous & supportive Pilot crowd that stormed the court in an electrifying scene, giving Banning the historic victory.

Awesome job Pilots!  The entire school should be proud of you! J
