Re-Cap of 9/21/06 Match vs. Belmont

Congratulations to the Lady Pilots for an awesome effort against Belmont.  Despite missing 4 out of 10 Varsity starters, the Lady Pilots played an awesome first match of the year after 2 weeks of frustration caused by 2 cancelled matches (Dorsey & Bishop Montgomery).

Special recognition goes out to #1 Doubles Cinthya Monroy & Graziel Nafarette who won 8-6 in Nafarette’s first ever tennis match.  Also impressive in her very first match was Jackie Humara.  Despite playing an opponent with many more years of tennis experience, Humara hung tough and actually had the lead at 6-5, before finally succumbing at 8-6.

The four JV players forced into action to replace the four Varsity players out of action, all played admirably, keeping most of the matches very close & competitive.

In JV action, an emotional Rocio Prieto teamed up with Breeana Warntjes to produce a dominant 6-1 victory over their opponents to secure the tie for the JV squad.
