Re-Cap of 10/23/06 Match vs. Gardena

Congratulations once again to the Lady Pilots Tennis Team for another impressive victory over Gardena.  After completing season series sweeps over Washington & Narbonne, Monday’s 6-1 victory marked the third season series sweep on the year for the Pilots.  The win also cemented the first back-to-back winning seasons in Lady Pilots’ tennis history in perhaps the last 10 to 15 years

Leading the way in another sweep of the 4 singles matches were #4 & #2 singles players Jackie Humara & Yvette Aguilar who won 8-0 & 8-2 respectively.  Humara’s match was completed in record time, as she recorded the shut-out in less than 20 minutes, while Aguilar’s play was her best yet.  #1 & #2 singles Cinthya Monroy & Adriana Garcia also were impressive as Monroy shined in her season debut at singles.

In doubles action, Veronica Trujillo & Norma Santamaria (#2 Doubles) won 8-5, while Margaret Young and Nancy Melgoza (#1 Doubles) pulled out the gut-wrenching victory, ending in a very tight tie-breaker game.

Awesome job Pilots & Good Luck to the team looks to secure their first playoff appearance in perhaps the last 10-15 years, in the season finale vs. San Pedro on Thursday! J

In JV action, Graziel Nafarrete & Diana Alvarado (#1 Doubles), as well as Cristina Alvarado & Breeana Warntjes (#2 Doubles) all pulled off 8-2 wins, giving the Pilots 2 of the 3 official matches played.
