Congratulations to the Lady Pilots for a great effort in a close loss vs. Roosevelt on Friday.
Despite the loss, there were many positives for the Pilots to draw upon as they move forward. In singles, Darla Romo responded
incredibly to the pressure of knowing she was the only remaining hope of a victory as the other singles struggled. After an
early 0-3 deficit, Romo took 6 of the next 9 games to even things up before finally succumbing. In doubles, the Pilots took
2 of the 3 matches in dominant fashion, with a pair of 8-2 wins by Juana Gomez & Lizeth Manzano, as well as Dahlia Castillo
& Jazmin Cuevas. Evelyn Lagunas filled in admirably as she paired up with Jazmine Andrade as it looked to be a doubles
sweep after they built a big lead. It was not to be, however, as Andrade & Lagunas also battled unsuccessfully til the
very end. In JV/Exhibition action, the Pilots swept all 4 matches with quad 6-0 shutouts by Emily Garcia & Francheska
Kosonoy, Joselynn Baca & Jessica Gonzalez, Juana Gonzalez & Vanessa Nuñez, as well as Jocelyn Correa &
Kimberly Sebastian. Great job Pilots & good luck vs. Jefferson on Monday!
