Re-Cap of 10/14/10 Girls Tennis Match – Banning vs. Carson
Congratulations to the Lady Pilots for an incredibly
improved performance vs. the Carson Colts on Thursday. Not only did the Pilots take 2 matches this time around, but made a
serious run at two others, threatening the Colts 115-match win-streak in the Marine League.
In doubles, Jamie Vasquez & Lizbeth Medina led 4-3 early in the
match, yet fell late. Patty Ledesma & Luisa Martin had match point & led 7-6, before reaching another
match-point at 6-5 in the tie-break before finally succumbing 8-6 in that tie-break. Meanwhile, Melissa
Garibay & Rebeca Rodriguez trailed 1-4, before reeling off 7 of the last 9 games to take the win at #1 doubles.
In singles, Angel Noriega, Carmi Lares &
Helly Duran combined to take 5 total games, while Jenny “Birthday Girl” Castellon played perhaps the match of
her life, as she dominated her opponent 8-3 to celebrate her special day in an awesome performance.
In JV/Exhibition action, Liesel & Ruthie Caballero,
Jocelyn Cuevas & Victoria Serrano, as well as Jessica Ramos & Lily Sivitos all won for the Pilots, while Angel Noriega
& Carmi Lares of the varsity squad faced off in a 2nd match vs. two varsity Colts & won as well.
